Discover all there is to know about Roman South Limburg and admire the museum’s collection

What did the arrival of the Romans, some 2,000 years ago, mean for the inhabitants of South Limburg at the time? This exhibition shows that their lives changed completely. Changes that are still visible in our current environment, economy and traditions, centuries later.

Five themes that tell the story

The exhibition tells the story through five themes: construction, life in the countryside, Roman roads, faith & burials and life in the city. Each theme is illustrated by archaeological objects, reconstruction drawings and photos. Several sorts of games are on hand to test your knowledge about the Romans.

There’s special attention for the eating habits of the locals and the pottery industry of Roman Heerlen. Also in this exhibition, you will find a real treasure room. Some unique objects are exhibited here. Admire them all!
